Character Personality: Es is a girl with cruel beginnings.

The girl was first created by the hands of Souichiro Unemaru, a man working to create a “perfect world” through gaining what’s known as an Embryo—a crystallization of energy powerful enough to change the world. That was all that she was for, and when she failed to be that Embryo Storage he needed, Unemaru attempted to dispose of her. However, he stopped himself when she spoke and showed emotion, something that should have been impossible. Deciding she would be useful due to this, Unemaru shortens her name to Es and gives her away his higher-ups.

Emotion is something Es is very unfamiliar with. She is always logical and calculating, even when others show her otherwise. She shows visible confusion when Touya Kagari, a random bystander to her at the time, jumps into conflict in order to save a Drive-Union (a human who is ‘infected’ with a power known as a Drive). This can be attributed to her nature as a test-tube baby, having only lived for 5 years with minimal contact with the outside world. Even after her personality blooms, she finds herself unable to understand most social cues and mannerisms until they are explained to her.

As she gets to spend time with Touya, this changes. The world around her grows as she is introduced to school, home, friends, and even happiness and joy. She still remains cold and calculating, but it slowly shifts to being a facet of her personality. The catalyst towards her growth was Es trying pudding for the first time, given to her by Hinata (a childhood friend of Touya’s) with the explanation that it was happiness, and thoroughly enjoying it when she ate it, even though at first she was wondering why she would even claim it as being “happiness”, deeming it illogical.

As she experiences this life, she starts to bud into a no-nonsense type of girl with a bit of cheekiness to her words. Touya and his circle of friends become precious to her as well, and uses her strength to protect those she cares about as a repayment for their kindness towards her.

To protect Touya and her cherished ones once she figures out the true extent of Unemaru’s plans to build a perfect world, she sacrifices herself to give back what they have given her, and while it hurts her, she does this knowing her loved ones would be happy. Her sacrifice removed all memories of Es ever existing from her loved ones, but she held hope that she would see them again.

Her future was not all sadness, however, as she was given another chance at life as a regular human girl after ‘Me’ and ‘Nobody’ worked together to return Es to her home, albeit with the cost of losing her memories. As she regained the memories of her old life and added them to the new ones she was forming, she was able to understand that her friends were not kind to her out of pity, but out of genuine love, something she never experienced before in her ‘old’ life. She brings that same knowledge forward as she makes new friends and strengthening the relationships she already had.


Character Abilities: She is a skilled swordswoman, able to wield the Murakumo, a blade of over five feet in length with no issue (for reference, Es is 4'8). She is also capable of taking down men twice her size, even though she claims she only used the laws of physics to do so.

Summary: An area of pure blue, where sky and sea meet.
Full Details: This area serves as a wall that protects Es’ home from a creature known as the Black Beast, even though the area itself does not look like it. The sky is as bright blue as a summer day, and the water is shallow enough that one can get around without issue. The only thing that feels “different” is the air filled with small balls of energy and odd geometric patterns on the ground. They serve no purpose other than decoration.

Summary: An abandoned part of a city that has fallen into disarray.
Full Details: This area looks like part of a city's suburban area, but was abandoned due to an accident and other health concerns. Due to the dangers of unstable infrastructure and lack of proper care since the accident, this area of a city has been gated off by a wire fence. Inside the gated area, however, are the remnants of a powerful magical energy, as well as its source, a gate to a world unknown.
